It is up to the winner of each match to report the result in this thread. Tournament is seeded as of the current leaderboard ranking right now. Remember, if you lose you're not out of the tournament yet! This is a double elimination format, so you must lose 2 matches to be eliminated.
A few techincal details:
It is the responsibility of the highest seed to set up the match, and PM their opponent with the game ID and password.
Two things that are very important: 1) If for some reason you have PM's disabled, you need to re-enable them so you can get messages from opponents or from the tournament director (that's me). I don't think anyone should have PM's shut off, but just in case. 2) if you happen to have a match with an opponent on your block list, you will need to remove them if you have the responsibility to set up the match and they must join it. You can block them again later.
Here are the specific, step by step game set up instructions that the highest seed in each match should follow:
Specific Game set up instructions:
-Create a game
-Create a Multiplayer game
-Select Standard World, No Teams
-Proceed to Step 2
-Select:
---Human Players 2
---Private Game, only people that I provide a password to will be able to join
---No starting forces, checks in the check-boxes for No Pre-set Factories & Automatically add a factory to each player's capital
---Players must retake their lost capital next turn or be eliminated
-Proceed to Step 3
-Set Early Victory Conditions to 2 capitals, 60 Land Zones, 170 Income
-Proceed to Step 4
-Select Nation Picking Type: Scattered, Turn Speed: Normal (24 hours/turn)
-Max game turns = 100, max game duration = 100 days
-Create New Game (note your game ID and password to PM to your opponent)
If you have an opponent who does not register or respond to your PM within 3 days, please let me know and I will contact them. As stated previously, you must set up your game (if that's your responsibility) or join your game within 3 days of being paired with a match up. If you can not, you need to contact me! Exceptions can and will be made at my discretion. I'm not going to be hard on this, the intent is to keep things moving along, as we had some in past tournaments who held things up for weeks by failing to register or commuincate. If you communicate and have a legitimate reason for the delay (waiting for an open slot, out of town for the weekend, etc) that's fine and we can hold off on starting your match for a few days no problem. I'm just not going to allow someone to hold up the tourney for weeks, or if they're not responding to messages or communicating, then unfortunately I'll have to forfeit them. We have a good group, no reason to go there. All reasonable extentions when necessary are pretty much granted as long as you keep us in the loop. :)
If there are any questions, please post here or PM me. Here are the opening round matchups as listed in the bracket link above.... GOOD LUCK CONTESTANTS!

Another game ready to go !
I already had a scare. I selected my units for the first turn purchases, placed them on the map (1 TR + land units at my capital), was glancing up and down the map scrolling around then hit submit. And all I see is my TR, there's no units displaying on my capital. I freaked, I thought I placed them, omg! Now I donated blood last night after work, and got less than 4 hours sleep last night, so I though omg I spaced out and didn't place my units??? Wow that's going to be a set back lol. Fortunately it was a display thing I guess, cause during the production phase at the next viewing, everything showed up as ordered. Phew! :) lol
I'm new to the site but have played the board game extensively how do I sign up?
This tournament has already begun, but there is a thread for an allies and axis tournament just preparing to start that you are more that welcome to join.
^^This.
Keep checking the Tournament forum periodically as well, I'll be running more H2H tournies after this one, and others run team tournies. There's usually something going on. :)
InGeneral defeats donaldduck
Bracket updated, both players await their next opponent.
Hi all,
It was brought to my attention that the following game setting is a bit misleading:
---Players must retake their lost capital next turn or be eliminated
In reality, in H2H games with the early victory condition of "owns 2 capitals", a player will not have an opportunity to retake their cap if they lose it... the victor wins instantly via the early victory condition. So really this game is the equivalent of "instant elimination" when a player loses their capital. Sorry for any confusion.
Clemsafe wins.
Clemsafe wins.
Bracket updated, both players await their next opponent.
Just so everyone knows, clemsafe is the defending champion from the last H2H tournament. Target is on you now clem! ;)
DocBrown wins vs. GooseJuice.
It was a good game. I got quite lucky early on - I wasn't paying close enough attention and left my capital empty and unblocked while Goose had a transport in range. Fortunately for me he landed in a different territory, albeit from the same sea zone from which he would land in my capital. Anyway, on to the next one.
Still waiting on Mr. Shoe to set up the game. Ok is it FatShoe or FatsHoe? Just out of curiosity. :)
Tigerpiper started a game and I accepted the invite. Without paying attention, I signed up for the game to realize it was an Indian Ocean map with standard starting forces.
I let him know this was in error, and he said that he would send another invite which I am yet to receive. For the sake of expediating the tourney, can we just finish the Indian Ocean H2H battle in lieu of the Standard World, no starting forces, etc?
If anything, this puts US at a disadvantage, because the next round everyone else will have at least one warmup game within the parameters of the tournament.
sn0wball won vs. drkillitz69
Mainly, I got lucky. drkillitz69 lost more than a few skirmishes he should have won.
Bracket updated, new matchups:
docbrown vs. sn0wball
drkillitz69 vs. GooseJuice
doc and drk please set up your games.
@Bandit - I will PM fatshoe, I'm in a game with him as well so I'll get in touch.
@GeneralD - No, sorry, you guys will need to play with the game set up as indicated for the tournament. gl in your IO match though... I hear if once you get Tigerpiper off of the A&A format, he falls apart. ;P
Ouch! That's good to know considering I am the underdog in this thing based on rankings.
We've got the Standard World game going now. lol
@GD, gl! Playing a higher ranked member is good for you... good learning experience, smaller point risk and larger potential point gain for a win.
@Bandit, fatshoe is setting the game up and PMing you
Just looking at the brackets. What a great group of players!
fatshoe wins and advances

Bracket updated, new matchups:
docbrown vs. ams
Bandit13 vs. sn0wball
Clemsafe defeats Fatshoe. An epic game. My capital must have been invaded for the best part of the game but I finally got 60 territories.
Very good game Fatshoe, as usual.
I was lucky in the game with InGeneral. Without a small but decisive lucky battle, I should have lost.
Bracket updated clem, both players await their next opponent.
It was a tad more than a small battle ams and definitely the turning point, but you played very well and made no obvious mistakes, every move calculated and well planned. A thoroughly enjoiyable game (really bad die roll aside) and a well deserved win.
Wow. Still waiting to start my second game.
Barka defeats Arcaman in the tourney game - 47pts. I didn't notice I won for a couple of days as I didn't expect it - I wasn't watching the early victory conditions.
But Arcaman defeated Barka in the miscreated standard forces (doesn't count towards the tourney game) - 287 pts - ouch!
Bracket updated, new matchups:
Barka vs. Tigerpiper
GeneralDestro vs Arcaman
I created my game with Arca and sent an invite 12 hours ago.
Destro vs. Arca game underway!
Tiger played the long game and I played the short one. Short game won.

Really bad start with both capitals right next to each other. I got lucky that he got stuck there.

Barka won vs Clemsafe.
General Destro defeats Arcaman. Good game Arca.
